OUR MISSION
The Port of New York and New Jersey is the largest port complex on the East Coast — and the communities living closest to it have spent decades carrying the public health costs. Childhood asthma rates among the highest in the country. Premature deaths from diesel exposure. Workers earning poverty wages to keep the goods moving.
The Coalition for Healthy Ports has been organizing to change that since 2007. We are a bi-state alliance of environmental and environmental justice groups, labor unions, faith leaders, truck drivers, and community advocates working across New York and New Jersey for clean air, zero emissions, worker protections, economic justice, and community empowerment at the ports and throughout the logistics industry.
The mission is simple. Healthy ports — for the workers inside them, the residents around them, and the region that depends on them.
